For the Harvard men's hockey team, this season promised to be another "banner" one when it started November 17 with the raising of the 1989 NCAA championship banner at Bright (left). But lackluster defensive play caused by a thinned-out and weary defensive corps, bad luck and too many penalties (right) resulted in an under-.500 season. There were a few bright spots, though, including--in a moment reminiscent of The goal--Tod Hartje's goal in Harvard's 5-4 win over Northeastern in the Beanpot's first round (below).

Harvard men's basketball sophomore RON MITCHELL makes sure of these two points in one of the brighter moments of another exciting, but frustrating 7-7 Ivy League season for the Crimson (below).

KATIE ORENSTEIN of the Harvard women's swimming team races for the gold in the 100-yard butterfly February 17 against Penn (below left). Also against the Quakers, JOHN MANSON displays perfect form before entering the water in the 50-yard freestyle (below right).

Our most comical image of the season comes courtesy of a lost contact lens during one of the wrestling matches at the MAC (left).
