W. Squash Dominates Tufts, 9-0

Complete domination.

That was the story yesterday at the Harvard women's squash match as the undefeated Crimson squad beat Tufts soundly, 9-0.

"We could have easily played our JV against their top players," said second-seeded Tri-Captain Stephanie Clark, who dominated her 3-0 victory from start to finish.

Harvard's number one seed, Jenny Holleran, had no problems in defeating Tufts' top player, Robin Natiss, 15-3, 15-2, 15-2. The senior Tri-Captain's strength was evident--even against a clearly inferior opponent.

The Crimson's third seed, Hope Nichols, dominated her Jumbo opponent as well, cruising to a 15-1, 15-4, 15-4 victory.

"I served pretty well, but that's about all I had a chance to do," said Nichols, the third of the Tri-Captains.

Serve was about all' any of the Harvard women had a chance to do. Sophomore Brooke Bailey, the fourth seed for Harvard, won her match 3-0, a scorewhich was common for most of the Crimson womenyesterday.

"Tufts is a nice friendly rivalry," HarvardCoach Steve Piltch said. "These matches alwaysgive a lot of people an opportunity toplay--especially the freshmen."

And play they did. Freshman Kathy Shergalis,one of three freshmen on the squad, also had anexcellent match, sweeping three games.

"The freshmen have improved a lot," Piltchsaid. "They are a great group of kids and they aregoing to be good players."

Both the captains and Pitch agreed that theirmatch last weekend against Princeton was a betterexample of the Crimson's talents as the squadprepares for the Howe Cup on February 9.

"We have been working really hard and we arereally psyched about this weekend's tournament,"Clark said. "There will be some tough teams there,but I feel confident."

And after yesterday's domination, Harvard hasevery reason to be confident
