Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The City Council last night ordered the City Manager Robert W. Healy to issue quarterly reports on the use of money confiscated from drug busts.
Money confiscated by the police department is currently placed in a special trust fund for law enforcement, which Healy said goes in part to pay overtime salaries for undercover officers. But the council, which is not regularly informed about trust fund expenditures, expressed confusion as to the other uses of the fund.
"I wonder if one way to handle this is for the City Manager to inform the City Council what this money is used for," said Vice Mayor Kenneth E. Reeves '72. "After we receive periodic reports we can see if we want to change the trust."
"I don't want to see this large amount of money go through behind the scenes," said Mayor Alice K. Wolf. "We should be aware of what is happening and...we should have some say."
