Grapplers Take Two

Crimson Tops Princeton and B.C.

The Harvard wrestling team doesn't dwell on the past.

Last week's bruising by Cornell is far behind the team. Bye-bye, no more, all gone.

The Crimson showed its superior capacity to forget, pulverizing Princeton, 30-12, and busting Boston College, 25-14, in a tri-meet at the Malkin Athletic Center yesterday.

Last year Harvard fell to the Tigers by one measly point. But that was then, this is now.

"We were pretty confident going in," 158-lb. Captain Tim Kierstead said. "We knew they weren't as strong as they have been in past years. We kind of took it on the chin last weekend, but we had a good hard week of practice and were ready to go."

The Crimson easily dominated the lower weights, with 118-lb. Nick Cianciala, 126-lb. Todd Cameron and 134-lb. Sam Cole.

Cianciola played a game of let-up, take-down with Chris Thatcher before knocking him, 21-9.

Cole spent his time racing after the Tiger's Rob Khany, but he did catch him, and got a technical fall with 43 seconds left, boosting Harvard's score by five points.

"The guy was backing up the whole match," Cole said. "I guess tactically their coaches didn't want me to technical fall him or pin him, so they had him backing up and stalling. That made it a little more difficult than it would have been had he come at me."

Kierstead also managed a technical fall, after a slower first period. 7
