The Harvard golf team participated in the New England Division I Championships at Quidnessett Country Club Thursday and Friday. The Crimson placed 11th out of 15 teams with 336 strokes the first day and 344 the second to finish with 680 strokes.
Central Connecticut won the 36-hole match with 617 strokes and thus qualified for the NCAA tournament. Hartford, stroking 632, and Yale, with 646 strokes, finished second and third respectively. Stroking 153, Hartford's Pat Sheehan was the tournament's medalist.
Harvard's top five scorers were: Mike Foster, 82-84-166; Terry Murray, 85-82-167; Ross Cockrell, 85-86-171; Robert Kincaid, 84-92-176 and David Miller, 94-92-186. The top scorers qualified for the teams' composite ranking.
