Almost lost in the stormy debate at last night's Undergraduate Council meeting over the reinstitution of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, the council continued planning for a May concert and the holding of a campus-wide referendum.

The council voted against polling students on the petition candidacy of South Africa Archbishop Desmond M. Tutu for the Board of Overseers.

Opponents of the referendum said that its wording was biased towards the Nobel prizewinner's candidacy.

Tutu heads this year's pro-divestment slate of five candidates for the Board of Overseers nominated by Harvard-Radcliffe Alumni Against Apartheid.

In other council business, the body endorsed its leadership's decision from earlier this week to spend $50,000 for a concert next month by pop/folk artist Suzanne Vega. Tickets for the concert will go on sale Thursday morning, Lee said.
