To the Editors of the Crimson:
On November 16, 1988, the Crimson reported "A Medford man is being held without bail in the kidnapping and attempted rape of a woman at the Harvard Square `T' stop late Monday night."
This individual was later arrested and the article went on to report that several other State Law Enforcement Agencies were interested in this individual for similar crimes.
At this time we feel it necessary to remind the Harvard Community of this incident and to advise them to take safe walking routes in well-lit areas; walk in pairs whenever possible. The Harvard University Police Department set up a special telephone number to handle calls for escort, 5-0400. This service runs between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Finally, we want you to be aware of the 82 Blue Light Emergency phones located outdoors throughout the campus. By picking up the receiver, you are connected directly to a police dispatcher. Paul E. Johnson Director Police and Security Chief of Police
