College Heads Discuss Aid

By Ross G. Forman

The presidents of about 50 colleges and universities assembled in Washington yesterday to meet with members of Congress to discuss the federal government's 1988 budget for financial aid.

The purpose of the meeting "is to get some reading from the legislators about progress and proposals for cuts for the fiscal year 1988," said Nancy Raley, a coordinator for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) who helped publicize the Higher Education Leadership Conference.

Although Yale sent an assistant provost. Harvard did not participate in the conference.
