Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
The Harvard men's and women's track teams each placed third behind Princeton and Yale in a meet at the Gordon Indoor Track and Tennis Facility Saturday.
Princeton claimed first place in both the men's and women's meets. In the men's division, the Tigers' 68 points were enough to overcome Yale (57) and Harvard (35), while in the women's division, Princeton's 53 points narrowly edged Yale (48) and the Crimson (47).
The Crimson men captured only two events. Sophomore Paul Kent won the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:45.38, while senior Paul Gompers took the 3000-meter race in 8:13.12.
Junior James Russell took second place for Harvard in the hammer throw with a throw of 19.18 meters, and sophomore Sean Turbitt placed second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.65.
Sophomore Chris Sullivan finished second in the high jump with a jump of 6-ft., 8-in.--just ahead of Co-Captain Robert Gustafson who jumped 6-ft., 6-in. Gustafson also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 6.86 meters.
For the women, Co-Captain Erin Sugrue once again won three events, scoring 15 of the Crimson's 47 overall points.
Sugrue won the high jump with a jump of 5-ft., 8-in., the triple jump with a leap of 11.54 meters, and the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.10.
Harvard freshman Meredith Rainey captured the 400-meter run with a time of 56.66 and the 200-meter run in 25.96, and Jennifer Dunne took first place in the long jump with a leap of 5.12 meters.
