White Sox 2, Blue Jays 1

CHICAGO--Joel Davis scattered eight hits yesterday night and the Chicago White Sox extended their winning streak to six games with a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

The White Sox have now won nine of their last 11 games.

Davis (now 2-1), bidding for his first major-league shutout, gave up a run in the ninth. He struck out six and walked three.

Carlton Fisk delivered an RBI single in the first inning and Ozzie Guillen hit his second major-league home run in the seventh.

Toronto rookie John Cerutti (0-1) gave up seven hits in seven innings.

Brewers 12, Indians 9

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers, behind two-run homers by Cecil Copper and Rob Deer, rallied from an 8-0 first-inning deficit yesterday to knock off the Cleveland Indians, 12-9.

The Brewers rapped 15 hits, including a three-run homer by Paul Householder and a solo shot by Dale Sveum. Ernest Riles' RBI single broke an 8-8 tie in the seventh and Householder homered later in the inning.

Cleveland's first-inning explosion was its biggest of the season and represented the most runs ever scored against Milwaukee in one inning.

Dan Plesac (now 3-1), the third Milwaukee pitcher, got the victory. Jaime Easterly (0-1) took the loss for Cleveland.

Angels 6, Orioles 4

BALTIMORE -- Bob Boone snapped a 1-for-23 slump with a pair of run-scoring singles yesterday as the California Angels defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4.

Rookie Wally Joyner, Reggie Jackson, and Ruppert Jones also had RBI singles as California dealt the Orioles only their second loss in the last 10 games.

Tigers 12, Mariners 0

DETROIT -- Darnell Coles had three RBI, two on an eighth-inning homer, and Walt Terrell limited Seattle to five hits yesterday leading the Detroit Tigers to a 12-0 rout of the Seattle Mariners.

Rangers 4, Royals 0

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Left-hander Mike Mason struck out a career-high 10 batters and held the Kansas City Royals to six hits in leading the Texas Rangers to a 4-0 victory yesterday night.
