A Look at the Weekend Ahead in Harvard Sports

The Harvard baseball team faces M.I.T., Princeton, and Cornell in doubleheaders this week. With the season coming to a close, the Crimson has a chance to tie for second place with Columbia in the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League behind Navy. "If we play like we know we can, we can win everytime we go on the field," said Captain Bob Kay. The Crimson are 13-8 overall (7-5 in EIBL) going into the final week.

The men's lacrosse team will travel to University of New Hampshire and Adelphi University for two games this week. With victories over UNH and Adelphi--the top-ranked team in the division--the Crimson could end up ranked in the top-15 in the nation. At the moment, Harvard (10-4 overall, 4-2 Ivy) is ranked second in New England.

The Crimson women's lacrosse team, seventh ranked in the nation, travels to Hanover, N.H. to meet rival Dartmouth to decide the Ivy title.

Harvard's softball team is coming of dissapointing losses over the weekend to Brown and Yale. The final doubleheader of the season will be at Holy Cross tommorow afternoon, a team that the Crimson defeated last year. The batswomen are now 13-9 overall (3-5 Ivy).

Coming of its victory over Dartmouth yesterday, the Harvard men's tennis squad will host the U.S. Military Academy on Friday and Cornell on Saturday. Freshman Hank Parichabutr said, "Next Tuesday's match against Princeton is the important one." The match against Princeton will help decide which team gets to travel to the NCAA's in Athens, Ga. to be held later in May.

Meanwhile, the women's tennis team travel to Cornell and Syracuse this weekend for two of their last three matches of the year. "It shouldn't be too much trouble. Syracuse is good, but we should still beat them," said first singles Kathy Vigna of her New York opponents.

Syracuse is coming off a stunning upset of Princeton last week. With two victories this week and a win over Princeton next Wednesday, the Crimson are almosat guaranteed the ticket to Austin, Tex. for the NCAA Championships.

After its down-to-the-wire one stroke win over Brown yesterday, the Harvard golf team face Williams and Holy Cross in a dual match to be held in the Brookline Country Club on Thursday.

The women's water polo team will be hosting the National Women's Water Polo Championships this weekend. The Crimson (14-3-1) are ensured tough competition from Western teams.
