A combination of four hours of sleep and a 500 mile drive equaled a 12th place finish (413 points) for the Harvard varsity sailing team at the Trux-Umstead Regatta last weekend.

The Crimson received an invitation at noon Friday, and the late notification left the squad scrambling for members.

Sailing in the A divison (and tallying 101 total points) for Harvard were Gordon Burnes and Charlene Lee, with Dana Barron replacing Lee in the final two races.

In the B divison, Harvard's W.B. Peale and Jeff Kurland finished with 110 points.

In the C laser (one-manned boat) divison, Harvard's Peter Wagner totaled 92 points. The Crimson's Alex Sutton sailed the first three races and John Pernick the last seven in the D laser division.

The bright spot of the day occured during the last race of the day, when Pernick sailed by his competition to capture first place in the laser divison.

Sutton and Pernick acccumulated 90 points to round out the scoring for the Crimson.
