The language laboratory in the basement of Boylston Hall was closed to students yesterday after a pipe burst and flooded the area.
Although the floor was two inches deep in water, none of the electronic equipment appeared to have been damaged.
Engineers began working on the damaged pipe at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon and managed to turn off the valve before further damage occured. Members of custodial services worked all night trying to dry the soaked carpeting.
Members of the maintenance crew said that the damaged pipe, part of a heating unit, would not affect other rooms in Boylston Hall. They added that the laboratory would probably be open to students today.
"The flooding affecting me while I was tight on time," Thomas F. McConnell '89 said. "It set me back for the rest of the day."
