Midterm examinations were tricky enough, and now you're looking for a few treats to celebrate the holiday in style. Why not try your favorite professor's haunts.

No promises about what they will hand out this year, but if last Halloween is any indication, you could end up with a bounty of goodies. Here's what a few of Harvard's biggest names gave to trick-or-treaters last year:

.John Kenneth Galbraith, Warburg Professor of Economics Emeritus: marshmallows, candy corn, Oreos, Fifth Ave. candy bars, M&M's.

.Stephen Jay Gould, Agassiz Professor of Zoology: Mounds and Fifth Ave. bars with peanuts.

.Derek C. Bok, president of Harvard University: plain M&M's, Charleston Chews, Hershey's Kisses, and Reeses Pieces.

.John Shattuck, vice president for government and public affairs: Peanut M&M's, Tootsie Rolls, and Heath Bars.

.Dean of Freshmen Henry C. Moses: mini Snickers bars and mini Three Musketeers.

.Law School Dean James Vorenberg '49: fun size Baby Ruth bars, bite size Nestle Milk Chocolate bars, and Cambridge-made Necco candy wafers.
