The Harvard women's soccer team saw its playoff hopes dashed late Sunday evening when it was announced that the team had not received an NCAA tournament bid.

Five regional bids were awarded along with seven at-large spots.

Harvard's chances of receiving a bid were reduced after the team's tie with Brown Saturday, which cost the Crimson a share in the Ivy league title. The league champion Bruins received an at-large bid, as did the University of Connecticut. The Northeast regional bid was awarded to the University of Massachusetts as expected.

"The committee didn't give me a real reason for the decision," said Harvard Coach Bob Scalise. "I'm disappointed, of course, but it's nice to know we at least played at tournament level," he added.

Harvard tied both Brown and UMass and lost to UConn earlier in the season. The booters finished the season with an 8-3-2 record.
