School has begun with an audible squish and excitement verging on nausea.

To keep this fever pitch alive, we offer to you at a special discount rate the first What is to be Done? of the season, a wham-bang affair full of reviews and previews, a veritable cornucopia of entertainment ideas.

Or something like that.

Actually, the magazine is more slap-dash than wham-bang, and the cornucopia has withered under the increasing onslaught of the bacteria of scholarly commitment.

Nonetheless, we are more than proud to present in this issue a range of pieces; from the politically profound review of Tony Lukas's new book Common Ground to the apolitically madcap round-up of area movies that Dewitt regularly produces.

It is this type of writing--bold, inventive, concise, brash--that gives us a renewed optimism about the shallow, greedy generation that we college students comprise, and that makes us all just a teensy bit more hopeful about the future of life on this planet.

What is to be Done? is proud to be part of this upsurge, and as you go wandering in search of entertainment this weekend, take the magazine along. You'll feel good about yourself for it.
