A proposed resolution attacking President Reagan's urban aid cuts is expected to be one of the highlights of the annual seminar of the Mayors' Association of Massachusetts, which begins today at the Kennedy School of Government.
Saying that the Commonwealth could lose $520 million if Congress Passes Reagan's budget, Leominster Mayor Richard J. Girouard has asked the state's 38 other mayors to join him in protesting the proposed cuts.
States, cities and towns have already had to cut education and public safety budgets to the bone, but the federal government continues to purchase "the likes of toilet of toilet seats for $500, pencils for $100 and coffeemakers for $3000," Girouard told the Fitchburg-Leominster Sentinel and Enterprise.
The seminar will wind up tomorrow.
