Things are looking up for the men's tennis team.

Freshman Jonathan Cardi and two Crimson doubles teams turned in fine performances in this weekend's ICTA tournament at Princeton.

Cardi displayed what teammate Mark Leschly called "an unusual amount of experience out there on the courts," upsetting Princeton's Tom Spangler. Cardi advanced to the Quarterfinals, where he lost a close match to Columbia's Jeff Chang, dropping the third set, 7-5.

Cardi also made tracks on the doubles court. In the quarterfinals, he and his partner, Co-Captain Paul Palandjian, knocked off Dartmouth's Bruce Steel and Jeff Hawkings in three sets.

They dropped their semifinal match to a top-seeded West Virginia team, 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles pair Leschly and junior Hank Parichabutr fared similarly, taking out their fifth-seeded opponent, only to lose a tough three set match to another top-seeded team, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.

In singles, Co-Captain Arkie Engle fell to Princeton's Fred Heutschel in the Round of 16.
