A $50,000 grant from the Boston Edison Foundation will enable local educators to conduct research on women's history at the Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe officials announced this week.
The purpose of the grant is to assist Boston area middle and secondary school teachers and administrators in incorporating women's history into their present curriculum, Patricia M. King, the library's director, said yesterday.
"Research can be conducted on any issue in which women have been very much involved, such as the family, social history, or nutrition," King said.
"Our hope is that we'll be able to help poorer school districts, ones that don't have the kind of funds to do this kind of curriculum development," she added.
William F. Hamm, a spokesman for the Edison Foundation, said the grant is consistent with the Foundation's goal to "support area educational training."
The first grants, three $2500 stipends, will be awarded later this Spring or next fall.
