Raiders 34, Falcons 24
Marcus Allen grabbed the league rushing lead with a 156-yd. effort, his sixth consecutive 100-yd. performance, and Marc Wilson threw three touchdown passes. The visiting Raiders trailed 17-13 at halftime, but Allen scored the goahead touchdown on a 4-yd. pass from Wilson in the third quarter.
Allen's 156 yards gave him 1,392 yards for the year, moving ahead of Atlanta's Gerald Riggs, the previous leader who had 95 yards for 1,343 yards this season. It ended Riggs' string of consecutive 100-yd. games at five.
49ers 35, Redskins 8
The defending Super Bowl champions got off quickly as Carl Monroe returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a score. The 49ers, who moved within a game of the stumbling Rams in the NFC West, turned Washington turnovers into three more touchdowns.
Despite a 15-minute advantage in time of possession and outgaining the 49ers 270-59, the Redskins trailed 21-8 at the half.
Dwight Hicks picked off a Jay Schroeder pass and a 39-yd. pass to Freddie Solomon set up Wendell Tyler's 1-yd. TD for a 14-5 San Francisco lead. When safety Jeff Fuller sacked Schroeder from the blind side, it forced a fumble that linebacker Keena Turner scooped up and went 65 yards for a touchdown.
Schroeder completed 30 of 58 for 348 yards. The 58 attempts were a Redskins record.
Chargers 40, Bills 7
Rookie cornerback John Hendy intercepted two passes, returning one 75 yards for a touchdown, for host San Diego. The Chargers defense, rated last in the NFL entering the game, paved the way for 17 points by intercepting Buffalo quarterback Bbece Mathison three times in the first half.
Dan Fouts hit on 21 of 36 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns.
Seahawks 24, Chiefs 6
Despite nursing a shoulder bruise, Dave Krieg passed for two touch-downs--to tight end Dan Ross for 11 yards and Steve Largent for 17 yards. The Seahawks' other touchdown came on a 5-yard run by Curt Warner in the second quarter.
Largent matched Lance Alworth's NFL record with his seventh career 1,000-yd. receiving season and ran his consecutive game receiving streak to 120 games, third best in NFL history.
