More than 70 Cabot House residents are looking forward to the end of the fall term, not because they're ready to take exams but because they're ready to move into the newly renovated Briggs Hall.
Renovations to the Cabot House dormitory are right on schedule, and students will begin moving in during intersession this January, said Associate Dean of the Faculty for Facilities R. Thomas Quinn.
The hall is undergoing major changes converting it from a dorm with corridors and singles to a building with three entryways and suites.
Briggs will "have the nicest rooms on campus once it's all done," said Cabot House Master Myra A. Mayman. "It's going to be quite beautiful."
Residents of Bertram and Barnard Halls, both scheduled for spring term renovations, will be moving into Briggs. All six Cabot House buildings will be renovated by fall of 1987, said Mayman.
Briggs now has suites with common rooms and private bathrooms. Some split-suites on the fourth and fifth floors have skylights or dormer windows, said Stephen L. Buffo '86, who was a Cabot House Committee student representative for the renovations.
Cabot has formed a special student-tutor committee to oversee the move. The committee meets for the first time tomorrow and probably will be holding interim lotteries for students moving in during the spring, said Benjamin R. Reder '86 who is on the committee.
