Pederson Last for Season

BOSTON--Boston Bruins center Barry Pederson has suffered a recurrence of a tumor in the muscles of his upper right arm and will be lost for the rest of the National Hockey League season, the club announced yesterday.

Pederson made the decision after consultations with doctors at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital and elsewhere and will undergo surgery. No date was set for the operation, the club said.

The Bruins also announced that Butch Goring had been acquired from on waivers from the New York Islanders to help replace Pederson.

Going ate 35, a 16-season NHL veteran had played in 29 games for the Isis does this season scoring two goals and five assists.

During his NHL career, Goring has also played for the Los Angeles Kings and has scored a total of 362 goals in 1068 games.
