The Dartmouth women's basketball team wanted to exact revenge and they got it: exact revenge.
Less than a month after the Big Green fell to Harvard on Barb Keffer's last-second jumper, Dartmouth beat the Crimson, 59-58, on a last second shot of its own.
The game, played in front of 457 people at Dartmouth's Alumni Gym, marked the second time in three games that the Cantabs (now 6-6 overall, 1-1 Ivies) lost a game at the buzzer, and the third game this year Harvard has lost by fewer than three points.
The loss also continued the cagers' road woes. Harvard has now lost all five of its games away from home this year.
The Crimson opened the game in fine form. The whole team played well en route to a 29-26 halftime edge.
Dartmouth, which trailed for most of the contest, finally captured the lead midway through the second half. The hosts stretched their lead as far as seven points before Harvard could mount a comeback.
Led by freshman Sharon Hayes (16 points, seven rebounds), the visitors clawed their way to a one point edge with less than a minute left to play.

The Big Green missed a shot with 20 seconds left. However, the hosts captured the rebound and set up for another attempt. That attempt, with five seconds left, fell through the net.
The Crimson immediately called a time-out, but was unable to get a shot off in the final seconds. Dartmouth had its revenge.
Shortfall
"They have a real height advantage and that's what they used to win," said Harvard Co-Captain Wendy Joseph. Indeed, the hosts' trio of six-footers--Jane Daigle, Sue Murray and Margo Peterson--combined for 48 of their team's 59 points.
Fouls also plagued the Crimson. Starters Barb Keffer and Anna Collins fouled out. In all, Harvard was whistled for 26 fouls that led to 17 Dartmouth points (on 27 free throws).
Meanwhile, the Crimson scored only six points (on 12 free throws) from the charity stripe.
That 11-point difference "definitely hurt us." Joseph said. "The referees were very picky or our foul calls and let them get away with lots of pushing."
