Notes From Mr. Rhythm's Sports Drum

By Kevin Carter

The Chicago Bears are back on top,

The Monsters of the Midway can't be stopped.

The defensive unit is the league's number one,

They tackle and they hit hard and they have a lot of fun.

They sacked more QBs this year than ever before.

Seventy-two to be exact, nobody ever sacked more.

They went on to the post-season tourney,

To Washington, D.C., they made the journey.

To take on the highly rated Redskins,

And no one really thought they'd win,

But Buddy Ryan's men made 'ern think again.

The offense, led by Fuller, scored just enough.

So that the D could win it by just being tough.

They sacked pretty-boy Theismann seven times,

And committed plenty of other crimes,

Like murder, battery, and assault,

They made Riggins feel like the goat.

And these blitzing, hard-hitting junkyard dogs.

Made slabs of becon out of the Hogs.

They won the game 23-19,

And now will go on to pastures more green.

They're going to Northern Cal to take on the 49ers.

While the 'Skins stay home and nurse their shiners.

So San Francisco, I'll tell you now,

The Monsters of the Midway will show you how.

To play that rockin', sockin, D,

And shut down your passing game on national T.V.
