Don't be surprised if some members of the Harvard men's tennis team start exhibiting schizophrenic symptoms

This weekend their morale was tossed to and fro as they found themselves at either end of two violent thrashings.

Columbia trashed Harvard, 7-2, on the Lion's clay courts Saturday, but Harvard rallied back to shock Penn, 8-1, yesterday at Philadelphia.

Coach Dave Fish said Columbia may be the strongest team in the Ivy League this year. "They just kept on top of us enough that we didn't get the shots we needed," said Fish.

Columbia played with a slight advantage because it is the only school to compete on clay courts. But, said Fish, "They beat us fair and square."

Bill Stanley and the doubles team of Dave Beckman and Rob Loud registered the only Crimson victories against the Lions.

By yesterday Harvard seemed to have forgotten all about the crushing defeat of the day before as it embarked on some crushing of its own.

Harvard took all of the singles and two of the three doubles against Penn. "Everybody went out and just really played well," said Fish.
