Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
An 18-year-old Florids resident was charged with vehicular homicide, possession of a marijuana and possession of a dangerous weapon yesterday after hitting and dragging a pedestrian underneath his car through the streets of Cambridge.
Andrew Fruman was released yesterday on $1,000 bail following arraignment in Cambridge District Court. Fruman is pleading not guiky to 11 charges, said District Attorney Scott Harshbarger. A hearing has been set for March 8 on the case.
Fruman allegedly ran over and killed a pedestrian, Bernard Clougherty, aged 43, of Dorchester, Mass., on Boston's Essex Street Sunday night.
Witnesses who saw a car dragging a body through Boston streets phoned the Boston Police, which notified other area police departments.
Two Harvard University Police officers spotted Fruman's car in Central Square at 3:05 a.m., said Jack Morse, Deputy Chief of the Harvard Police Department. Morse added that two Harvard police cars "boxed" Fruman's car in and forced him to stop.
He added that Fruman's car had evidence of contact with a body, which police then located a short distance up Mass. Ave Fruman had apparently dragged Clougherty's body seven miles before stopping.
One witness told Fruman that there was a body under his car. Instead of stopping, however, he reportedly detatched the body, got into his car and then drove away, said Cambridge police Detective John Jones.
Harshbarger said yesterday that the police officers "did not observe Fruman being under the influence of anything" early Sunday morning. In addition to possessing marijuana, Fruman had a double edged knife and a nunchuk, a martial arts weapon made with a chain and sticks.
