At the Princeton Invitational an individual warmup before season's start over the weekend, the Harvard women's tennis team failed to won any individual titles.

Freshman Kath Vigns lost in the semifinals to top seeded Joy Cummings of Princeton, 6-4, 6-4, in the number-one singles event. Meanwhile, Erica Shulman dropped a 6-0, 6-0 thumper to top seeded Susan Rudd of Rice in her division. The Crimson's Roberta Hing and Erika Smith also each dropped first round matches.

In doubles action, Smith and Debbie Kaufman lost in the quarter-finals to the top-seeded team of Kate Gressetrs and Connie Yowell, from Yale, 6-2, 6-2 Vigna and Hing then lost in the finals, 6-2, 6-7, 4-6, to that same Eli team.
