Revitalized Currier Drama Tries To Keep Talent Home

By Joshua L. Dunance

In order to put an end to what David A. Nacht '87 calls a "waste of talent," this year's Currier House Drama Society is attempting to involve more House members.

In the past, according to Nacht, the Drama Society has "acted as an umbrella" for other Harvard productions. This year, the group plans on organizing drama tables, playreadings, improvisation groups and seminars on acting.

One way Nacht hopes to attract people is through playreadings. "They will be a collection of people, hopefully without much experience in drama, who come together to drink wine and get involved in a play," he said.

Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science Dudley R. Herschbach, the master of Currier House, has given the club $1000 out of the Masters' discretionary fund. "We think drama is a wonderful thing," said Herschbach.

The society plans a "Best of Breadway" review for this semester and a large production for next semester.

"I'd like to see the people who aren't great at theater get out on stage," said Jerry Sternin, a House tutor and also the group's adviser.

"The group will be tailored to a lot of the pre-meds who normally don't have time to participate in drama," said Annie E. Pforzheimer '86, a member of the organization.

Jon E. King '86 said that he hopes soon Harvard students will say, "Aah, Currier House. What a great place to do a show."
