The Black Students Association (BSA) is planning to pack the courthouse at the January trial of Ephraim Isaacs v. Harvard University.
Issacs is suing Harvard for discrimination, alleging that he was passed over for tenure in Afro-Am in 1975 because he is Ethiopian and Black. Harvard maintains that the department had no need for a specialist in his field, African religions and languages.
Since the former associate professor sued the University, in 1977, the BSA has supported him with picketing and fundraising and informational meetings.
"We think it's important to have continuity in the organization on this issue," says BSA president Timathy A. Wilkins '86. "Our goal is to have a large turnout at the trial."
