To the Editor:

Recently I attended a conference on "New Trends in Missiles Systems and Technology," in the Howard Johnson's Hotel in Boston. I was allowed to make a brief but important talk to the group of arms contractors and top military officials who had gathered there to discuss technical trends and government's purchasing plans.

My intention was to stop business as usual and to offer another point of view to what they were doing. As I spoke from the podium I lifted a six-pound zucchini high into the air and said. "Excuse me, gentle people, I believe it is more important to study the 'Zucchini' than it is to study Missiles!"

I could see smiles on some of the people's faces as I was escorted from the room and I knew that some of them understood my meaning.

The zucchini, of course, means life. Joshua J. Destos   also known as "Waffes"   New Salem
