While colleges across the country are rushing to embrace the high technology explosion with courses in computer science and expanded science facilities, the University of Chicago reaffirmed its commitment to good old liberal arts last month.
At a press conference two weeks ago, officials announced that they will seek to raise $150 million to improve the school's arts and sciences curriculum by 1991, the school's 100th anniversary.
"U of C has always been known for its liberal arts. We try to promote a basic liberal arts general education. Arts and sciences are the core of this institution," said James Yuenger, director of public affairs for the university. The Daily Northwestern
