To the Editors of The Crimson:
I am writing this letter to warn female undergraduates of the harassment and exploitation which is part of some summer employments. Accepting a position as a deck hand and domestic helper should not subject a female employee to degrading glances, stray hands, or more direct approaches in manipulated, one-on-one encounters. Don't be lured into a false sense of security or immunity by a man's credentials. Happily married, distinguished Harvard alumni, in the luxury of their secluded summer homes, can be found guilty of such offenses. In a previous summer position, such a man proved this to me I'm writing to urge fellow undergraduates and all women to be wary of early signs of harassment subjugation, degradation and exploitation in their summer position. Some Harvard traditions are meant to be broken. Suzanne M.F. Tanner '84
