To the Editors of The Crimson
I was deeply saddened to read S. Allen Counter's article entitled "Ultimate Hypocrisy" (5/11/1983). I expected a scholarly, sober, and mature treatment of the most pressing social issue of my generation, namely race relations. Yet after coming across words such as "closed door whispers" and "subtle fear tactics," I felt I was reading some leaflet handed out by the Separatist Youth League. How should I feel about an argument which calls its opposition "the media marionettes and their manipulators?"
Indeed, this is not a constructive approach to a volatile issue. It is not an argument befitting a scholar. Theodore G. Lasar '85
