The Final Solution

By The DAILY Northwestern

An alumnus of Northwestern University who has been trying to get his alma mater to host a debate on the reality of the Holocaust struck out again this month.

After a rejection in April from the Northwestern history club, alumnus William Curry offered The Daily Northwestern, the student newspaper, $3500 to host the debate. The newspaper refused.

"Right now, we have neither the time nor the resources to organize such a debate. The Daily's first and foremost commitment is to report the news, not organize it," said Editor-in-Chief Kathryn Balint.

Curry sought a debate matching electrical engineering Prof. Arthur Butz, author of "The Hoax of the 20th Century," with some-one who disagrees with his theory that the Holocaust didn't happen.

Opponents of the debate argue that such an event would only lend credence to Butz' theory, which they say is ridiculous.
