Two faculty members have resigned and two others are undergoing formal disciplinary hearings in a major investigation of sexual harassment at the University of Michigan.
Virginia Nordby, director of the Office of Affirmative Action there, said her office also is looking into about 10 other cases of harassment which she terms "serious."
A medical school professor "did in the laboratory sometimes refer to women as cunts, did make sexually suggestive gestures, and did write instructions to [the student] on a notepad picturing female genitalia," according to the confidential report of a faculty review committee.
That professor, the committee concluded, should be removed from the faculty for five years. --The Michigan Daily
