President Bok returned last night from a three-day visit to Washington where he attended a conference of research university presidents-sponsored by the American Association of Universities--and presided over an administrative board meeting of the University's Oaks research institute. Association staff members spent two days briefing the presidents on educational issues that have been or will be on the executive of legislative agendas. Bok said Sunday that one of the primary subjects of the private biannual conference meetings was hospital cost containment which would affect Harvard's 13 affiliated medical institutions. Bok also attended a normal meeting of the board of Dumbarton Oaks, which has fellows studying Byzantine History, Pre-Columbian Studies and Landscape. It also houses two museums and has a 10-acre garden. Melanie Mopsick, a Dumbarton Oaks official said yesterday. Bok could not be reached for comment.
