In the second round of balloting to fill Undergraduate Council seats vacated since the end of first semester. Seven students won election last week in three Houses and two districts in the Yard. Several of the victors faced competition only from unofficial write in candidates.
Turnout ranged from 27.6 percent in North House to 48.3 percent in Winthrop. Average turnout throughout the elections was 39.8 percent, contrasted with 52 percent voter response during the first college-wide elections for council seats last October. A total of 649 students cast ballots out of 1631 eligible electors.
The new council delegates are Leverett House: Henry C. Chuen '84, Dora Y. Mao '84, Brace B. Ryan '84: North House: Roland I. Dunbrack Jr. '85: Winthrop: Jeremiah Brown Jr. '85: East Yard: Clark J. Freshman '86: Union Dorms: Angela Ferry '86.
Two more elections slated this week will raise the council to its full complement of 89 representatives, council Vice Chairman Brian R. Melendez '86 said this week. There is one open slot each in Dudley and Winthrop Houses.
