Lowell House will continue to send about 40 students to Claverly Hall next fall, as it has in the past, although College officials say they were contemplating a break from this practice.
I expect that Lowell Adams, and Quincy will use the same numbers as in the past. Thomas Dingman '67, assistant dean of the College for the House system, said yesterday. Each House traditionally has about an equal share of the roughly 120 students in the Mt. Auburn St. dormitory.
Lowell House Master William H. Bossert '59 said yesterday that during last spring's reevaluation of the status of Dudley House, the affiliation for non-resident undergraduates, the possibility of housing Dudley students in Claverly emerged.
As recently as last week, Bossert and Dingman discussed the possibility of sending fewer Lowell residents to Claverly, next fall, Bossert said. Such a move would enable the College to admit fewer freshmen to Lowell this spring, which would even out the distribution of classes in the House.
But Bossert said this scheme was rejected because Quincy and Adams will also have an usually large number of rooms opening up next fall, owing to the disproportionate sizes of their current senior classics.
