Students is American University in Washington, D.C. may to longer have to bother taking notes in class, or even going to lectures at all. For a $20 fee they can subscribe to Noteworthy Notes, Inc., the first business of its type on the East Coast, and get well-written notes for an entire semester's worth of lectures.
The business, founded by Richard Keller, a Junior at the University, and five other partners has been in operation for only one semester and already has 60 subscribers.
"We believe that this is a very good service. At $20, no one who gets below as A can any time they gain no benefit," said Kotler. He added that copies of lecture notes are available 36 hours after each lecture.
While officials at American University have reserved judgement on the business until a later date, it has run into some opposition from professors of courses who object to the presence of note-takers who are not enrolled in their courses. "We are not selling education for free," said Professor Richard Strout, of the University's School of Communications. American University Eagle. February 28
