Harvard Students Supporting Solidarity, a group the will work to enroll politically persecuted Polish students in American universities groups to receive College status as a student organization within the next few weeks.

The group which has already submitted a constitution and list of members to the College only needs to have its two Faculty advisers conformed. Dean of Students Archie C. Epps III said yesterday.

Members of the group plan to organize a panel discussion on Solidarity this spring and will distribute a biweekly newsletter to publicize to activities.

The group will be under the supervision of Associate Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures Stanislaw Baranczak, a celebrated Polish dissident, who joined the Faculty in 1981.

While in Poland, Baranczak was a founding member of the Committee for the Defense of Workers and coming Harvard. Baranezak has remained active in Polish affairs.

It all goes as planned the students will bring "new dimension and new light to Solidarity," a spokesman for the group said.
