Two freshmen have collected about $470 in cash and pledges from their classmates to supplement the College's financial aid funds to the Class of 1987.

Sarah Burgess and Per Jebsen solicited the donations behind a table at the Union, which they manned from Sunday to Friday last week. About 130 different students chipped into the kitty, Jebsen said yesterday.

The money will go to a restricted fund in the financial aid office and will be distributed to several students in next year's freshman class.

Members of the Class of 1985 sponsored similar fund raising project last year, raising more than $2000.
