College Treasurer George Putnam '49 officially announced his resignation yesterday, saying he will leave the post he has held for 10 years on June 30.
Putnam, a member of the Harvard Corporation, the University's seven man governing body, said he plans to devote more time to his private investment firm and other business interests.
Last week Putnam said Harvard Management Company President Walter M. Cabot '55 is the leading candidate to succeed him although Cabot says he has not been approached by University officials.
A search committee to name the next Treasurer still has not been formed by the Corporation, Putnam said last night.
