To the Editors of the Crimson:
As the alumni participant in the exploratory meeting in October between Harvard and Hillel officials which the Crimson has recently reported. I can testify that the one issue which was not (repeat not) discussed was altering the current Harvard capital campaign to accomodate alumni who feel spiritually closer to Hillel or the Catholic Student Center than to Memorial Church. This near-term issue, though it highlights the problem, was excluded by mutual agreement in setting up the meeting. True, a few worthy causes have been added to the campaign late in the game. But the subject of our discussion was the longer term place of religious pluralism at Harvard after the current campaign ends. The obvious good will of administration officials on this subject counsels patience in the coming months while Harvard works out a solution consonant with its traditions and standard operating procedures.
