LAWRENCE, Kansas--Three University of Kansas (KU) football players received probation recently after having pleaded no contest to charges of burglary and felony theft.

Douglas County District Court Judge James Paddock found Cedric Alexander, a Chicago freshman, and Renwick Atkins, a Chicago sophomore, guilty of burglary and felony theft and sentenced them to five years probation.

Broderick Thompson, a junior from Cerritos, Calif., was found guilty of felony theft and sentenced to three years probation.

Head football Coach Don Fambrough said the players would be able to practice with the team during spring practices. The University Daily Kansan reported last week.

The county's district attorney's office originally charged the men after KU police in February recovered more than $6000 worth of stolen property from an apartment.
