SACRAMENTO, Calif--An acknowledged homosexual has for the first time been appointed to the University of California's board of regents.

Gov. Edmund G. Brown, Jr. named Sheldon W. Andelson--a Los Angeles lawyer who was a member of the platform committee at the Democratic National Convention in 1980--to the board.
