STANFORD, Calif.--The faculty senate at Stanford University recently adopted a resolution opposing the application of federal export controls to academic activities.

The senate said the export regulations "should not be interpreted to restrict any scholar's access to information on a campus where classified research does not take place." The Chronicle of Higher Education reported last week.
