El Salvador Poll

By Compiled FROM College newspapers

RENO, Nevada--An informal survey of students at the University of Nevada at Reno has found that fewer than 20 percent know the location of El Salvador and only 2.5 percent can accurately describe the situation in the civil war-torn country.

The 200-student survey was made in the first week of March for the student newspaper. The Sagebrush, by Susie Forrest, a journalism student from New York.

Of those polled, 170 said they knew very little about the situation in the Central American republic. Of the 170, 166 thought El Salvador was at war with another country, but couldn't name it. The Chronicle of Higher Education reported last week.
