BOSTON-MIT recently declined to adhere to State Department directives to restrict a Soviet scientists' views of research being conducted there.

A nutrition professor at MIT was asked by the State Department not to expose visiting Soviet Chemists to work on nutritional research, food supplements, or genetic engineering.

MIT joins Stanford University and the University of Wisconsin in ignoring similar orders to contain Soviet researchers. The Dartmouth reported last week.
