PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Brown University is considering requiring graduating seniors to write a thesis or essay to encourage students to synthesize various aspects of their fields.
The proposal was presented at a faculty committee meeting last month and is supported by Harriet Sheridan, the dean of the college. Sheridan said each department could set its own framework within this rule. The Brown Daily Herald reported recently.
