PhiBetaKappa Announces 24 New Members

Harvard's branch of Phi Beta Kappa last week elected 24 senior men to membership in the prestigious national honor society.

The award in given "in recognition of high attainment in liberal scholarship," Michael J. Folz '83, the chapter's undergraduate first marshal, said yesterday.

After identifying seniors with the highest grade point averages, the society uses transcripts and recommendations to cut the nomination list down to 24 each November.

The group then holds two more elections, selecting 12 juniors in April, and many more seniors in May. The May election of seniors is the largest of the three elections, adding 50 or so members to the chapter's rolls.

The Radcliffe chapter has also completed its fall elections and its new members will be announced soon.
